With assets under administration of $135.5 billion, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (bcIMC) is the 5th largest pension fund in Canada. bcIMC’s investment activities help finance the retirement benefits of more than 554,000 plan members, as well as the insurance and benefit funds that cover over 2.3 million workers in British Columbia. The growth and transformation of the organization has also meant significant investment into bcIMC’s IT systems, infrastructure and human capital. With no shortage of significant complex IT initiatives underway, bcIMC recognises the importance of developing a ‘best-in-class’ project management capacity. As a result, bcIMC has created the new role of Director, IT Programs. The new Director will take on a mandate to work closely stakeholders in delivering high profile transformation projects and ensure these projects and changes are delivered within the constraints of requirements, scope, time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction.
Reporting administratively to the Senior Vice President, Information Technology and functionally to the Executive Business Sponsor and accountable to the Executive Steering Committee, the Director will oversee a team of Project Managers. Critical to the success of the new Director will be the ability to lead and collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders – understanding their needs, challenges, and opportunities.
The ideal candidate will bring a track record of success as a senior project leader leading the implementation of large technology initiatives and complex projects in a financial services environment such as in the investment and asset management, banking, pension, and insurance sectors. He/she will have demonstrated an ability to work cross functionally with diverse technical teams, leading a team of project managers from across the organization; thorough understanding of project management phases, techniques and tools. Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast paced matrix environment.
