Reporting to the General Manager of Engineering, the Manager, Design and Construction provides leadership for the design, construction and rehabilitation for engineering related infrastructure for the City. The Manager leads the delivery of the capital program while building constructive stakeholder relationships in support of Council directions, key City objectives, residents’ service needs and community best practices.
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a Master’s Degree in a related discipline of Engineering. The successful candidate will also have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a management level role in the public sector; an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, will be considered. Current membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia is required.
The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information effectively to a range of audiences. The candidate will have proven capacity to manage change and demonstrated ability to drive ideas from conception through to implementation. The candidate will have familiarity with municipal operations, legislation and governance and be an inclusive, forward thinking and transparent leader.
