The Assistant Project Manager takes projects from original concept through final implementation. Responsibilities include hosting requirements meetings, researching, documenting and diagramming solutions, conducting interviews of stakeholders, and contributing to product roadmaps, updating project schedules, using project management tools to enter project data, coordinating project tasks, communicating with project stakeholders and teams, monitoring progress, writing scripts to share data between project management systems, analyzing data, and generating reports. This position reports to the Director of Project Management at OpenStax.
Experience may not be substituted for the education requirement.

- Project Management Professional (PMP)® or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®.
- Must have strong organization skills. - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. - Ability to learn scripting to transfer data from one project management system to another. - Must be able to multi-task and set priorities to meet deadlines. - Must be able to deal with difficult situations in a diplomatic manner. - Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
- Familiarity with and comfortable with an agile approach to software development. - Proficient in technical project management tools, such as Trello, GitHub, Microsoft Project, Basecamp, or Smartsheet. - Flexible and organized, able to work and achieve goals in a complex and continuously changing environment. - Ability to participate effectively as a project manager for a self-directed team. - Ability to automate the collection and display of project-related data.
