The Portfolio Manager (PfM) uses project management standards, best practices, and Homestar Financial Corporation-specific processes to guide large enterprise-wide, cross-functional projects through the project life cycle, ensuring stakeholder engagement and that tasks and deliverables meet the defined business needs. The Homestar Financial Corporation (HFC) PfM is a reliable and responsive leader, with the ability to manage projects end-to-end including planning, budgeting, communication, issue resolution, change management, and implementation. This person takes an active role in supporting process adherence and drives continuous improvement. Projects are developed and decisions made about implementation in concert with HFC Leadership, Project Managers, and various business stakeholders.
The PfM will be the guiding and driving force behind the implementation of a Project Management Office and Culture. The PfM will work closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and future internal Project Managers, Project Leads, and Project Coordinators across multiple projects and across functional areas, supporting them during the planning phases of projects, assuming ownership of project execution once the solution has been defined and accepted, and driving them to successful completion.
The PfM will help find and recruit top talent, and then will directly coach, lead, and mentor a team of Project Managers.
The PfM will guide project managers and their project teams to ensure coordination of activity, driving of progress, and tracking status against project plans, timelines and changing priorities from initiation through closeout. S/he reviews project proposals to determine costs, timeline, funding, staffing requirements, and goals, and provide recommendations to HFC Leadership on feasibility of project proposals.
This role is responsible for the design, development, and preparation of analytical studies supporting all areas across the company. The PfM will prepare C-level presentations detailing analyses and recommendations to support leadership decision-making across various departments, including actionable analytics for strategic corporate and departmental initiatives, using key performance indicators to help drive performance and profitability.
At least 6 years of directly related project management experience
PMP, or PfMP Certification
At least 2 years managing a portfolio of projects
Significant experience and strong delivery record using PMI standards, and project management best practices (e.g. project controls, status dashboards, communications, risk and issue management, project bottlenecks, and fast-tracking projects)

Experience managing and developing diverse Portfolio Enterprise (project teams) with different skill sets and levels of experience; skillfully coordinate tasks among cross-functional teams to facilitate flow of work, and ensure project completion
Excellent communication skills (written, spoken and presentation)
Willingness and skill to communicate effectively with project team members, sponsors and stakeholders, influencing and engaging all parties to drive delivery of successful projects
Ability to grasp technical briefs quickly, draw out information from technically focused resources and translate technical to business needs
Demonstrated history of effectively presenting complex materials to non-business users and senior managers
Experience developing and managing project budgets
Strong negotiation expertise, including excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
DESIRABLE / PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Project Management experience within the mortgage, banking, insurance, or other financial services industry
4-Year degree from accredited college or university in Business, IT, Marketing, or related field
6-Sigma or Lean certification
Advanced knowledge of MS-Office Suite and project management tools including MS Project
Additional Salary Information: Compensation will depend on candidate's level of experience, education, certifications, and industry background. Occasional Telecommuting may be acceptable.
