The Sr. Portfolio Management & Metrics Analyst manages project and portfolio data during Annual Planning and throughout the year; analyzes this data for routine reporting and ad hoc requests; develops executive presentations for the board of directors and CEO; improves portfolio reporting tools and PMO governance processes; and provides customer service to internal customers. This position is located in Owings Mills, MD.
Participates in Corporate Initiative Annual Planning meetings to capture data inputs and ensure accuracy of evolving project inventory throughout the annual planning season
Manages intake and validation of 100+ project charter and estimation documents
Owns the project intake and closure process in the enterprise project management tool and collaborates with PMO Program Managers, Project Managers, Schedulers, and Financial Analysts to validate data inputs
Produces weekly portfolio metrics report and publishes to organization
Communicates with PMO Program Managers, Project Managers, Schedulers, and Financial Analysts to ensure alignment between project delivery team and performance metrics, including financial status, schedule milestones, scope (change requests), and funding requests.
Monitors and identifies portfolio/project-level financial and schedule risks by researching data anomalies and compiling raw data to performing trend and variance analysis
Builds and maintains custom and ad hoc reports within enterprise project management tool
Requests new elements for data capture or automation, modification or configuration of the reporting tool by documenting requirements, gaining approval and testing requirements
Completes testing protocols during enterprise project management tool upgrades
Establishes trust-based relationships with stakeholders to promote accuracy of the portfolio level data
Facilitates discussions to resolve data issues by working directly with Program Managers, Project Managers, Schedulers, and Financial Analysts
Provides guidance and coaching to Program/Project Managers about portfolio data and metrics
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, computer science, information management, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years professional experience working with metrics/key performance indicators or financial analysis/reporting within corporate strategy, business consulting, financial services, data analytics department or a project management office.
Exceptional data analysis skills with demonstrated experience translating large data sets into charts, graphs and diagrams for executive audiences
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLookUp, Macros, Visual Basic, etc.
Intermediate PowerPoint skills with experience creating executive presentations
Demonstrated proficiency with financial reporting tools/platforms, such as QlikView, JasperSoft, Tableau, CA PPM, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, or Oracle
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain reports and data validation processes
Excellent oral and written communication skills - Ability to clearly articulate and simplify complex financial or project data for an executive audience
Highly-detail oriented with a passion for quantitative and data analysis and desire to investigate root causes of data patterns and trends using advanced Excel functions
Ability to work collaboratively through in-person meetings and online interactions with senior management and team members, often across different business areas.

Prior experience leading or serving on a large-scale IT projects/program management team
Certified PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) or solid understanding of IT project management and scheduling concepts and standards, such as milestones, predecessors/ successors, resource/labor management, and earned value management.
Familiarity with MS Project, MS SharePoint, MS Visio, MS Access and Adobe Professional
